I usually put a decent amount of time into planning outfits that are interesting and diverse in advance (mixing prints at seven in the morning without my first cup of coffee is risky). For the fashion blogger in me, that's a great habit to have. For the girl who is just trying to relax on the weekends--not so much. I have a tendency to over think in most situations. Sometimes I have to take a step back and leave all the glitz and glam in the closet. For weekend wear, I like to keep it relaxed but still put together. Dark denim with a waffle knit sweater really is as basic as it gets. To personalize it and add my own flair, I used colorful accessories. By using these extra little pieces--the bright necklace and a little leopard print, I'm able to be comfortable in my basics but not unkempt. If you imagine the outfit without the necklace, without the purse, unrolled denim it's different outfit--not a bad outfit, per say. But just one that is lacking in details and personal touches. Basic doesn't mean boring!
