Short and Sweet(heart)

--what I'm wearing--
Romper:  Love Couture
Belt:  Madewell
Sandals:  Madewell
Purse:  J. Crew

The reason I wear a lot of dresses is the ease of these one piece outfits.  This romper falls in that category, making it a quintessential weekend piece.  When it's 80 degrees out, less is more--less make up, less jewelry, etc.  Instead focus a fun piece, like this romper, that has a lot of personality.  I love the details in the sweetheart neckline, the buttoned bodice, and the well placed darts.

Spotted and Dotted

--what I'm wearing--
Dress:  Urban Outfitters
Belt:  J. Crew
Shoes:  Express
Jewels:  J. Crew, Fossil, Briana's Box

My favorite way to wear neon is to pair it with neutrals.  To do it right by adding the bright colors in your accessories to an otherwise neutral outfit.

On the Bright Side

--what I'm wearing--
Sweater:  Madewell (gifted by my someone special)
Shorts:  J. Crew
Shoes:  Sperry Topsiders
Jewels:  J. Crew, J. Crew Factory, F21

--get the look--
A pair of white denim shorts creates the perfect pairing for this neon striped sweater.  It's fresh and bright with some great hues that just make me happy.  White bottoms are an investment piece--the pairings are endless.  While white on the bottom isn't always flattering, focus on fit that suits your body the best.  This pair is a mid rise that hugs my curves instead of sitting too low on them.

Believe It or Nautical

These photos were taken at Cold Springs, NY--a little town on the Hudson about 70 miles from Manhattan.  It's got a gorgeous view of the river (a MUCH cleaner Hudson River than to what I'm used to) and the surrounding mountains.  You can grab some homemade ice cream and find a shady bench to people-watch on the dock.  And there is no shortage of vintage shops and clothing boutiques.  It's the perfect place to spend a relaxing Saturday.

Dress:  J. Crew
Purse:  J. Crew Factory
Shoes:  Steve Madden
Jewels:  Fossil, J. Crew, F21

For an effortless outfit I always gravitate towards dresses.  A simple striped maxi number is perfect for a beautiful weekend by the Hudson River.  It's a great choice if you want to look put together, but comfortable and cool.  Try pairing it with layered delicate jewelry to keep the focus on the dress. If your vertically challenged, like me, you could wear a small wedge to give you an extra inch.  Or you could just as easily tie an off-center knot along the hem line.

Forever Young

I celebrated 24 years of life yesterday...another year older and hopefully, a little wiser, too.  Is it time to get serious now?  No, I think I'll worry about that at 25...right? Right.

Here's a few things the future me needs to remember:
1.  Housework is really not fun, but it's even worse when you let things accumulate. Do a little bit daily.
2.  No one else in my life will ever love me and care for me like my momma.  Not even close.
3.  Money may not be everything, but it's important to use it (or not use it) wisely.
4.  I am happiest when I'm being creative--whether it be in the kitchen, in fashion, in decor.  Don't get too busy for that or stifle it for other responsibilities.
5.  Love is cooperation.  Nothing good will come out of going to bed angry.
6.  When you are surrounded by beautiful, loving, bright friends, your life will also be beautiful and loving and bright.

Feeling blessed and grateful for all the kinds words.  Muchos gracias!

Dress:  J. Crew Factory
Purse:  South Moon Under
Shoes:  Aldo
Jewels:  J. Crew Factory, Fossil, Anthropologie

An easy knit dress can be styled in a cinch.  I added a belt to nip me in at the narrowest part of my body.  One of kind jewelry and a stacked heel is all you need to dress it up but don't hesitate to keep it even more relaxed with cute sandals.

Tribe and True

Remember me?

Firstly, let me apologize for my brief and very unplanned hiatus from my precious blog.  It was an accumulation of different factors and this month has been relentless.  It's no secret that I have no time management skills and even less so when I'm getting pulled in different directions.

Gosh, it's good to be back!  And hopefully, I can re-establish my blogging routine starting now.  Thank you for your patience!

There's no better time than the summer to step out of your comfort zone in bright colors and bold prints.  If you're scared of going too far, try to find a smaller-scaled print to balance the bright hues popular around this time.  Take your cues from your print when it comes to accessories--with an ethnic print like this one, I like to pair it with jewelry and prints that tell the same story so tribal jewelry and animal print is the way to go.
