Keep an eye out for the new skirt length for fall--the midi!  Because above the knee is soo passé.  The most flattering length is one that hits right below the knew, where the curve starts before the calf begins.  I'm easing into the trend with a slightly shorter length than that (it IS still summer, after all).  And once you get the length right, you'll have to re-proportion the rest of it.  Select a top that you can either tuck in or, like this floral one, ends just below your waist.  Unless your some Heidi Klum glamazon (in which case, I hate envy you), you'll need it to give you definition and shape.

Looking for maximum impact?  Try pairing complimentary colors.  Instead of going for a combo that screams, say, a Knick's fanatic in cobalt blue and radioactive orange, switch out the hues in that color family.  This light teal (blue) looks great with a yellow orange (tertiary).  Since they're pastels, I can add a blush tone to play off the colors of the shirt.  Remember, complimentary colors are colors that are opposite each other on the color wheel, but you can also use tertiary colors to compliment your outfit.

This is no mild summer we are having--no-siree, it's been unbearably hot this season so naturally, we choose simplicity over complicated outfits.  Using dramatic prints is a great way to make an impact when it's too hot to move--like this printed cotton maxi dress.  It's airy enough to keep me cool but still a stand out in any crowd.  Alternatively, try using color to make an impact.  Nothing wrong with a plain t-shirt, but a hot pink one is even better.

Jumpsuit for Joy

Jumpsuit:  American Eagle
Clutch:  Express
Shoes:  Steve Madden
Jewels:  F21, J. Crew

For ease and comfort, one-piece outfits can get you through the hot, summer months.  Instead of donning a simple dress, look for something a little out of the ordinary--like rompers or jumpsuits.  These have become more and more mainstreamed as of late so you don't need to dish out an exorbitant amount of money to get your hands on this look (check out Forever 21's selection here!)

Skincare Favorites: Make-up Removers

The fact of the matter is that they're millions of products on the market today.  Say you're looking for lip balm--there's moisturizing ones, tinted ones, plumping ones, scented ones and any number of other deciding factors.  Still, the most important of deciding factors for us will always come down to "how much?" And understandably so. We want the most bang for our buck, especially in beauty products that seem to claim they can solve a lot of our concerns (dark circles, I shake my fist at you).

Here's the first in a part of series bringing you my skincare favorites, categorized by price point:  low, mid, high.  No matter what your budget, there's sure to be an effective product for you!

Make-up Removers

LOW:   Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes, $4.99
These are gentle on the skin and effectively remove make-up and does okay with waterproof eye make-up (doesn't get it ALL off, but good enough).  It's refreshing and does not leave the skin feeling tight or dry--the added vitamins actually soften your skin.  I feel compelled to stress that wipes are convenient for removing surface makeup but should be followed up with a proper cleanser (will address that in the next post) to deep clean.

MID:  Bioderma Créaline H2O, $29
RAVE REVIEW ALERT!  This product goes above and beyond--thoroughly cleanses the skin and breaks down waterproof make-up but it also soothes irritated skin and gives an immediate feeling of freshness.  It's unscented and feels very much like water on the skin.  It's $29 for a large 500ml bottle but a little goes a long way, since most days I use it to remove eye make-up in the evenings.  I bought my bottle in January and still have a few uses left.  Only problem is that it's a French brand and may be hard to come by in the States, but I've always found it on Amazon.

HIGH:  Clarins Water Comfort One-Step Cleanser, $33
This is very similar to Bioderma in formulation--"water minus the water" feeling.  It does a great job of removing make-up and impurities, with the added benefit of soothing peach essential water.  While it is more accessible to Bioderma, it's also on the pricey side at $33 for 200ml, so you do run through it pretty quickly.

As always, I hope that was helpful.  Stay tuned for my favorite cleansers next!

Denim may be durable and versatile, but it's not a particularly fancy fabric.  Dress it up with the right accessories!  Focusing on making denim more feminine rather than country-bumpkin-chic, add sparkly touches in your jewelry.  Peep toe wedges and a slim cross body is great for a day look, but you could easily switch them out for a clutch or a pair of stilettos for a night out.

The art of mixing prints can be tricky.  Make it easier on yourself and look for items that do all the hard work for you to achieve the same effect.  This dress incorporates some fun pattern play in one cohesive piece.  Then it's easy to add the details to personalize it--like a vibrant green clutch and stacked heel sandals.

Happy Fourth of July!  Embracing the holiday with a red, white and blue ensemble.  The retro fit of these high waist-ed shorts is a nod to past decades and the all-American stripes play right into the theme.
