Lookbook: Moments of Chic (featuring Piperlime)

Jacket: J. Crew // Top: French Connection c/o Piperlime // Leggings: Target // Booties: c/o Piperlime // Purse: J. Crew // Sunnies: Sweet Joey's

It's here, it's here! Fall is upon us.  I'm talking about cool mornings, leaves changing, pumpkin-latte sipping weather.  While the impending doom of winter snow is on the horizon, I am choosing to live in this wonderful and fleeting season filled with a lot of my favorite things.

Take, for example, the bottom half of this outfit.  Leggings and booties are a sure fall favorite.  It takes my 5'3" height and gives me a 'legs-for-days' look (this is where you undoubtedly agree with me).  A mid-heeled black booties are the best purchase you can make, trust me.  It's something you'll reach for again and again.  I'll switch up the top half with a mixture of sweaters, dresses, or a printed top with great details, like this one, that does all the work for me.

By the way, zippers on each side of this top?  At first it's deemed as merely decorative but today I learned, they accommodate my very honest hips (Shakira, Shakira).  More tops with zippers please!

Lookbook: End of Summer (featuring Bethany Mota x Aeropostale)

Dress: c/o Aeropostale // Shoes: c/o Victoria // Purse: Coach // Necklace: J. Crew

Oops.
I did it again.

I took another break from blogging without so much as a warning.  But I refuse to apologize.  Sometimes it's good to unplug (literally) and take time for yourself.  If your life becomes too much about one thing, it can be overwhelming.  I need to remind myself that life is not one big photo shoot, but something real and something meaningful.  I always believed that when I looked good, I felt good but I've made the startling discovery that I must also feel good to WANT to look good.  So simple, but life changing nonetheless.

I missed this, though.  I love the act of selecting photos, editing and then finally writing a post.  There is something comforting about this routine.

It seems befitting that I'm resuming my blogging duties on the cusp of a new season.  Summers are my favorite but fall....fall is the very essence of fashion for me.  Boots, chunky knits, the more layers the better.  This dress will be coming with me, paired with tights and boots, as it gets chillier but right now, a casual slip-on sneaker for exploring old mansions is perfect.

I promise not to disappear again!  And if I do, please come after me.  I do it for you guys and you keep me going.

Lookbook: Keep it Cropped

Top: Wet Seal // Shorts: South Moon Under // Shoes: J. Crew // Sandals: J. Crew // Sunglasses: Ray-ban

The most intimidating piece of clothing to ever hit the racks--the crop top!  But fear not, there's a tasteful way to pull it off without baring it all.  I only show a sliver of skin, as much as I feel comfortable.  Adding a belt ensures it stays put, but be careful...if you pull too tight on the belt, you'll bulge over a bit (happens to the best of us.)

And most importantly, be confident!  If it's not your thing, don't force it but no harm in trying.
Either way--you do your thang, girlfriend.

Lookbook: Fine China

Top: Modern Love // Jeans: J. Crew // Purse: J. Crew // Shoes: J. Crew

Finally!  I can own this delicate blue willow pattern without fear of breaking it (#clumsy).  Maybe it's my inner grandma, but I've been drawn to this pattern over the years and am always searching for a set of dinnerware in vintage shops.  It also makes me want to own a cottage by the sea and bake sweet treats all day long.

A girl can dream.

Lookbook: Earn Your Stripes (Bow and Drape Feature)

Dress: c/o Bow and Drape // Hat: J. Crew // Shoes: Madewell // Purse: Coach

A big welcome to my new favorite maxi dress (linked above).  Can we take a minute to admire these little gold buttons and cutout back?  I love how it hugs my hips but is still comfortable enough to breeze through weekend errands.  It'll look damn good on vacation, too, over a swimsuit.  Yeah, let's make the latter happen pronto!  Summer weekends should NOT be for errands.

Hope you had a wonderful weekend! xx

Lookbook: Life's a Beach

Top: Loft // Shorts: Express // Hat: Tommy Hilfiger // Tote: Sweet Joey's // Sandals: J. Crew // Sunnies: Fossil

When you spend a few months straight planning your brother's wedding and you're already in the South Jersey, the next logical thing to do is hit the beach for some much needed R&R.  The sun and sea with my partner in crime--it doesn't get any better than that :]

Lookbook: Sari, I'm Not Sorry

On July 5th, 2014, at around one o'clock in the afternoon (only an hour behind schedule), my brother Nishan married Devi in a beautiful ceremony on a farm in Millville, NJ.  There was the usual wedding day craziness leading up to this day but looking around at all the happy faces of family and friends as they took their vows there was a feeling of contentment I won't soon forget.

I am constantly overwhelmed by the love and support that surrounds our family.  So many jumped up and began helping whenever they saw a job that needed to get done.  You can plan a wedding to death, but it always comes back to the people who were there to make it special.  Our family is forever grateful to all of those who helped and attended.

A bit of a different outfit post today with something I haven't done on here yet.  A proper Indian wedding calls for the appropriate garb, after all.  A big, huge special thanks to my dear cousin in Kolkata, Ritu, for selecting my outfits and getting them altered.  She worked so hard to find things she knew would suit me--I knew I was in good hands!  I love the lightweight multi-colored chiffon with the beautiful embroidered border.  The bright pink against the white was perfect for an outdoor summer wedding.

Here's a few photos Rob took with our camera during the ceremony.
