Yikes, still posting outfits from our trip to Washington, D.C. a weekend (or two) ago. Between work, my brother's wedding and birthdays, I've been a little swamped. I hope to be back to a regular posting schedule in July!
By the way, I bought this outfit on-the-go, so to speak. I packed an outfit, decided I just didn't feel like wearing a silk top and a high-waisted midi...too fussy for a hot day of sight seeing. So naturally, I walked into the J. Crew and walked out wearing this. These typography tees are so quirky. I love the simplicity and want to frame one for my wall.
Today I turn 25 years old. I have mixed feelings about this. Is this when I start lying about how old I am and stay 25 for the next ten years? A lot friends are getting married and having kids but I'm more concerned about whether or not I should Instagram my next meal (this is kind of a joke--we all know it depends on the lighting, duh).
At 16, you get your license. At 18, you get to vote. At 21, you can legally drink. And at 25, you picnic in the park in a pretty pleated dress. As Rob couldn't get today off, we celebrated a day early together with a Sunday drive and the picnic of my dreams. Any time we stopped, he gave me a little (and not-so-little) present along the way. I am well-loved and spoiled.
I had to save a dress this good looking to wear on a special day. Does anyone else do that? I have a fear of wasting a perfectly good outfit on an uneventful day. Completely irrational, I know. This is part two of my looks with Tommy Hilfiger X Garden State Plaza. Here's the first outfit, in case you missed it!
Thank you all for the sweet, sweet birthday wishes in various forms of communication today! I love you all so much :D
Top: Madewell // Shorts: J. Crew / Tote: Sweet Joey's // Sandals: J. Crew // Hat: J. Crew
Traipsing around Washington, D.C. in this denim on denim outfit. It was hot, hot, hot but I kept from melting with a Panama hat and retro shades.
We stopped Asbury Park, NJ on our way down and made it to Sweet Joey's, where I picked up this one-of-a-kind tote made by the owner's (Joey, he's a real sweetheart) father, Vlad. Vlad could be the most interesting man alive--he makes custom jeans, totes, aprons, etc. He uses great fabrics, like this hemp material, and has a story to go along with each piece.
Shot outside the United States Post Office in downtown.
Guys. I've found the sandals of my dreams. I've been looking EVERYWHERE for a pair of simple sandals with a low block heel for under $100. It's a lot harder than you'd think. And then I strolled on over by the sale shoe section in J. Crew, where you find your size and then see what the style is, and this beautiful shoe was right on top.
We call that fate.
They match with absolutely everything. Today it's boho chic with this printed maxi dress but stay tuned for the next few blog posts. Rob and I went to DC last weekend (follow along on Instagram to see what we did) and for the first time in a long time, I only brought one pair of shoes with me.
Well, I do hope you enjoyed the week of spring weather before it jumped right to 80 degrees and sunny. I promised myself when I was trudging through all the snow of last winter that I wouldn't complain about being hot. So I won't say it...nope, not one word.
Let's talk about the star of this show--meet pleated oxford skirt. She's a real cutie. I love the high-rise and tipped bottom. But those pleats! All that twirling potential--I couldn't resist. I paired mine with a lightweight summer blazer and casual sandals for a weekend appropriate look. It's so versatile so I also thought of throwing on some Keds or espadrilles and I want to dress it up with nude pumps for meetings during the week.
Look out for another Tommy Hilfiger post coming soon! A special thanks to Garden State Plaza Tommy location in Paramus, NJ for inviting me and helping me shop.
