Rave Review // Sephora Cream Lip Stain (always red 01)

We can stop the search for the perfect red lip now.  I found my favorite liquid lipstick after going through an alarming number of products.  I think this Sephora Cream Lip Cream in #01 blows away the Anastasia Liquid Lipsticks, Stila All Day Lipstick, Hourglass Rouge Opaque, NYX Matte Lip Cream--just to name a few.

Here's why I like it:

-applies like a dream, smooth and creamy.  I use it straight from the wand and don't bother with brushes or liners
-SO pigmented and one swipe is opaque enough but you can layer to bring out the intensity
-color is on point--a classic true red, suitable for all skintones
-matte but not drying--as long as you exfoliate and moisturize prior to application, this won't dry out your lips or cause them to look flaky
-long lasting--I can wear this comfortably all day.  It'll stay put through coffee and food (stay away from anything too greasy) because it transforms into a stain.  Touch up is minimal
-price $13.00!

Now it's still a MATTE lip product, which means it won't moisturize your lips.  It's not as comfortable as a balm by any means, but it's formulated with avocado oil.  This is the most moisturizing matte lipstick I've ever tried, which is kind of a big deal.  I can't stand having dry or chapped lips and am finicky about glossy lips, too.  For me, wearing a red lip was too much maintenance so it wasn't something I gravitated towards on a daily basis.  This lip cream is a real game-changer in my book.  I love that I can apply it at home and go about my business without worrying about lipstick smears across my face or that weird outline they sometimes leave.

I also got the shade #03, a brighter pinky red.  I liked it as well, however, I didn't find that it was of the same caliber of #01 so I'm not including it in the rave review.  I've heard that the other shades aren't as good as the red.  And if you're interested in the red, I'd grab it quick.  It was recently re-stocked and is usually a sold out product everywhere.

  1. Oh man, I use diva by mac and Stila all day in hot pink (not sure what the real name is) but both are supremely drying, even with the application of a lip balm, post-exfoliation! Buying this immediately. what kind of lip exfoliation do you use?!?!...also, please do an age and wrinkle prevention post!! I'm not sure where to start! Love all of your posts lately!!!

    1. Let me know how you get on with it! I'm still shocked at how comfortable it is. I usually exfoliate in the shower, just using my face konjac sponge and sometimes I'll use the elf scrub (the one that comes in lipstick shape).

I'll start planning on sharing some anti-aging skincare. Thanks for the post idea!
