Product Review / Ole Henriksen Truth Serum

truth serum, collagen booster, ole henrikson, sephora
I've been completely obbessed with serums lately--thanks to Sali Hughes over at The Guardian (see here).  I've been using them on and off over the years but recently started doing my research on serums.  I'm diligently trialing my way through a few different ones but this one was a fast favorite and I'm on my second bottle already.

The main selling points for serums are that they're a potent, concentrated treatment that absorbs quickly into the skin, thus proving for targeted and relatively quick results.  It's all about the ingredients, obviously, and which skin concern you'd like to tackle.  Dark spots, dry skin, sensitive, skin, blemish-prone skin, skin tone, skin texture--there are a ton of options for address these concerns.

This vitamin C serum is a solid product.  It ticks a lot of major skin concerns and deliveries hard-to-believe results almost immediately.  Here's a a break down of ingredients and what they do:

  • Vitamin C: calms, heals and strengthens collagen
  • Grapefruit and orange extract: purifying, astringent, brightening
  • Green tea extract: protects against damage with antioxidants
  • Rosehips extract: repairs and strengthens with concentrated vitamin C
  • Sodium hyaluronate: binds moisture to the skin
  • Vitamin E: heals, restores and nourishes

Sephora, $48

My skin has been loving this treatment.  I can see a difference in texture and tone.  It's like taking a multi-vitamin for your skin in that its also preventive from environmental damage, making it good for day use.  Using it at night ensures that your skin retains moisture while you sleep so you wake up with more balanced skin.  It's also faded some old acne spots I had.  I should also mention it smells like fresh oranges.  For that reason, I prefer this in the morning--it's energizing and wakes me up.  This was the first serum that made me realize that I even need a serum in my skincare routine.

For night, I've been enjoying this one and this one, just FYI.  More about serums coming your way soon!
