MORE LIQUID LIPSTICKS!
Because you can test out too many, right?
Nevertheless, I've been putting the new Lip Magnets to the test for over a month now. I put them through all the tests and compared them with some of my holy grail lipsticks (see here). The two shades I have are #400 (four hundred for all) and #505 (second skin). I'm going to keep this short and sweet with a classic pro/con list. Let's get straight into it!
These are one of the most comfortable-feeling liquid lipsticks I've ever tried. They describe it as "second skin" and I would have to agree with that. They're smooth and lightweight. They dry completely matte but don't dry out your lips. You can layer it once or twice to touch-up throughout the day. I like that they're easy to apply with the applicator tip since I have to line my pigmented lips first. The red shade (#400) is opaque in one swipe. It's not too orange or too pink, but universally flattering. The pink shade (#505) is a soft rose. I'll be honest, I thought it would look terrible on me but it turned out to be my favorite of the two. Something about it really brightens up my face (I wore it here). It's not something I would have gravitated towards so I'm looking forward to trying other products in this shade.
While they are lightweight and comfortable, you'll find that you have to sacrifice wear time. I found that these did not last that long, especially compared to other liquid lipsticks. I was able to wear this for about 2-3 hours before I had to touch up. It doesn't pair well with eating food, either. Like I said before, you can reapply on to go and, since the formula is so thin, it won't bunch up or look cake-y. Another con for me personally is the shade range in this line. There are a lot of reds, which is fine, but also a ton of pinks, which I think suit those with lighter skin tones. There are no nudes for those of us who need a darker nude. Also, another thing to consider is that they swatch differently than wha they look like in the bottle. I thought the red shade was more orange but it's completely neutral. Same goes for the pink--I thought it would be way too light for me and was pleasantly surprised.
All in all, Armani gets a solid A- from me. Of course it depends on what you're looking for. I'll gladly sacrifice longevity for how comfortable and natural they feel on my lips. I'm also not someone who wears a lot of lipstick for a very long amount of time. I only need it for special occasions and nights out so I don't mind touching up. I wish there were more shades for all skin tones, but maybe I should have tried more shades out since they swatch so differently. This pink #505 is a real standout for me and I've been reaching for it alot!
